Global warming is one of the biggest threats humans face in the 21st Century and sea levels are continuing to rise at alarming rates.
What problems are associated with this and what are some possible solutions?
Scientists point out the continuing rise of the earth’s temperature face a lot of threats brought by this throughout the century. Global warming and the rising sea level are the main consequences that put humans in danger. Thus, this essay will discuss the major problems and suggest some solutions to solve this issue.
Firstly, it cannot be denied that the predominant factors resulting in the warming of the earth are the emissions of carbon dioxide and deforestation. Actually, the most problematic are those coming from the burning of fossil fuels from power plants, this releases thousands of tonnes of Cow into the atmosphere every year. Another cause of these emissions is the burning of gasoline for transportation which continues to worsen because of our demand for vehicles. Also, human activities like cutting down great number of trees is a reason why carbon dioxide stays up in the atmosphere. The lack of trees also results to flooding because there are no means to seep the water.
Second, in recent years, there is a growth in the number of natural catastrophe such as drought, earthquake and tornado. Especially, flood and tsunami occur more frequently as a result of rising sea-water levels. Every year in the South pole and North pole, the melting polar ice caps continue due to warming global. It gradually destroys the habitat of the bear inhabiting there, and it causes Tsunami which destroys many countries, killed many people and damaged large properties.
Following these aforementioned effects, measures for this issue are presented below. The first and foremost step is restricting gas emissions. People should control the rise of the earth’s temperature. For instance, people should ride bicycle or take a bus instead of driving a car. Furthermore, government should build more metro stations to avoid rush hour and reduce the temperature. Additionally, government in every country should resort to utilizing renewable energy resources like solar, wind or hydro power.
Finally, people need to participate in a massive reforestation of major rain forests all over the world. As for every person, small things like buying energy efficient light bulbs, turning off electricity in the house, and planting trees in the garden can help too.
In conclusion, although global warming is a serious issue, there are steps that governments and individual can take to reduce its effects.
