MOST MODERN FAMILIES HAVE BOTH PARENTS WORKING AND AS A RESULT CHILDREN SPEND LESS TIME WITH THEIR PARENTS. WHAT IS THE REASON FOR THIS? WHAT PROBLEMS CAN THIS CAUSE?
In a contemporary society, there is a typical social phenomenon between parents and children where most parents have to go to work and do not have enough time to accompany their kids. There are several kinds of causes for this social problem.
It cannot be denied that with the development in economics and technology, parents should make a living to earn more money not only for themselves but also for their children. To be specific, an above-average income can provide a superior education like sending their kids to a bilingual school where it is good for them to study a foreign language. So, adults spend much time on their work and pay less attention to their children. Another example is if a child wants to learn how to play the piano as well as has a talent on music, no family will not regret if they give up on their child’s dream just because they do not have enough money to support the kid.
There are majority of issues that cause this phenomenon. Primarily, with the increase in prices of housing and commodities, some parents who live in urban areas will earn much more money to enhance their life standard. Besides, adults do not divide their time more effectively when they are at work. In reality, most parents have to do their work during the weekends or holidays instead of staying with their children. Apart from that, some parents regard their job as their priority, they love their profession as their dream to achieve. Therefore, they do not have a lot of patience with kids. Some of them would rather work all the time rather than play with their offspring.
On the whole, I, as a college student, deemed that providing for needs is a basic thing for children. Nevertheless, what a kid needs is not only a good environment, he or she also wants parents’ presence to be well-developed psychologically, mentally and physically.
